Metamorphosis Of Sight
9 x 12
Color Pencil
I am truly thrilled about this creation. While contemplating my next artistic endeavor, I sought inspiration from various images. Once I settled on an idea, I recognized the challenge ahead. My goal was to craft a piece that was both striking and vibrant, and I feel I have successfully met that challenge. I named this artwork "Metamorphosis of Sight," as it symbolizes how nature serves as the lens through which we perceive the world. In our fast-paced lives, dominated by technology and work, we often forget to pause and appreciate the beauty around us. The delicate roses and a butterfly featured in this piece remind us of the simple wonders of nature that we frequently overlook. Quoting from a song, "it’s the simple things in life that we forget;" if we take a moment to breathe and reflect, we can learn to cherish these simple joys while pursuing our ambitions.

Crafting the lion's head was an exhilarating experience. The inspiration struck when I stumbled upon an image that beautifully blended graphite with vibrant colors, prompting me to recreate that unique style. Choosing a lion's head for this project proved to be fulfilling, as it embodies both the harmony of yin and yang and the fierce spirit of the lion. This artwork not only showcases my current skills but also opens the door to future explorations in mixed media, allowing me to experiment with graphite and colored pencils to evoke entirely new emotions in my creations.
Blue Jay In A Nest Of Flowers
11 x 17
Color Pencil
This artwork marks one of my earliest creations crafted solely with colored pencils. I began with the blue jay, and as I finished it, I found myself without a clear direction for the next steps. However, surrounding the blue jay with flowers infused the piece with a sense of comfort and a feeling of being at home. The process of bringing this artwork to life was truly enjoyable for me.

In Good Hands
18 x 24
Graphite - Color Pencil
While working on this artwork, I had finished the lower section but was left with a vast expanse of empty space above, which made it clear that the piece was not yet complete. Once I assembled the upper part to create a cohesive whole, the outcome was truly remarkable. Titled "In Good Hands," this piece was inspired by a family who requested a drawing for submission at their church's auction. I designed this artwork specifically for their auction, infusing it with religious themes. The colorful lower section can hold various meanings for different viewers, but the hands emerging from the flowers and hummingbirds symbolize our universal need for assistance. The upper section, rendered in graphite, represents individuals seeking guidance from the heavens. Many people look skyward for support and there are those who are non-believers, myself included, seek support in other forms. Ultimately, we all seek direction at various points in our lives.
Reminiscing
18 x 24
Color Pencil
This work, named "Reminiscing," is dedicated to a family member mourning the loss of their mother. Cardinals were her cherished birds, and dogwoods were her beloved flowers. These elements inspired the final creation. It is often believed that when a cardinal shows up, it signifies a message from a departed loved one. Losing someone dear is a universal experience, and coming to terms with their absence can be incredibly challenging. While they may no longer be physically present, the memories we hold dear ensure that they continue to live on in our hearts.

I crafted this artwork as a tribute to our brave veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The graphite-rendered vase and flowers symbolize those we have lost but will always remember.
